Chat room window 'icons' or buttons

Use these icons (or buttons) to initiate certain features.  You can also right click on a nickname in the participant list to get even more features. chat room window options toolbar invite opens the 'invite a pal to join this room' dialog box select the user or users you would like to invite to the chat room from the 'invite list' window press the 'invite' button on the 'invite list' window start webcam launches a 'video driver select' dialog box select the driver for your camera and press the 'ok' button a 'self view' preview window will open and you will see your own camera image anyone within the chat room may now freely view your video see 'video setup' if you have problems raise hand will place an icon representing a 'raised hand' to the left of your name to indicate that you would like to speak click the icon again to 'lower your hand' view video launches a video viewer window select a nickname from the 'pull-down' menu in the video viewer window if you are a paid user you will see moving video of the user that you selected if you are not a paid user you will see a still picture of the person you selected with an upgrade link superimposed over the image use the four sizing icons to pick viewer size add to favorites adds this room to your list of favorite chat rooms for easy return at a later time video upgrade launches our secure payment page so that you may subscribe to Paltalk services - you can pay by Credit / Debit Card, PayPal, Western Union, Check or Money Order, or thru one of our authorized resellers audio toolbar mute click button icon to mute the incoming audio from the chat room click this button again to un-mute the incoming audio see adjusting speaker volume hold down to talk click on and hold this button down while you are speaking release the button when you are finished speaking see speaking in a chat room lock mic 'locks' or 'holds' the microphone 'open' click the icon again to 'unlock' or release the microphone you can tap the 'ctrl key' or your selected 'global hot key' to release the microphone once it is 'locked' participant list buttons IM starts an 'instant message' session with a chosen user view picture launches a video viewer window that will display the selected user add pal adds the selected user to your 'pal list'     How do I do an Audio Test? To do this we provide easy access to your audio input devices under the setup menu on the main pal list window. Simply select 'Setup', then select 'Preferences'. A tabbed window will pop up. Now select the 'Audio Tests' tab. This area lets you set up and test your audio settings.   The 'Speaker Test' area lets you play a test sound and adjust your output volume from your WAV device. You can also access your windows audio mixer here by clicking the blue 'Output Mixer Settings link under the 'Play Sound' button. (NOTE: All incoming sound is played thru your WAV device) The 'Microphone Test' area is where you can test your audio inputs and set their level. You can select any audio device here.         Your microphone is set as the default input for paltalk but you can select any audio device by clicking on the blue 'Input Mixer Settings' link. (NOTE: Be sure you select your microphone when you want to speak if you have changed the input in order to play other sources) If you want to speak into a chat room select the 'Mic' or 'Microphone' input. If you want to play a CD into a chat room select the CD input. If you want to play a MP3 file into a room select the 'WAV' or 'Mixer' input. Playing MP3's or other inputs into chat rooms is relatively easy once you learn how to select and adjust your input levels. Right click options in a chat room When you are visiting chat rooms at times you may wish to initiate one to one communications with a user within the room. You may right click on a user in the participant list to perform these functions... view video opens a video viewer window and starts viewing this user's video pal info launches a browser window that displays this users 'pal info' if they have chosen to make it public instant message opens and instant message window so that you can hold a private conversation with the selected userwhisper opens a 'whisper' window that lets you send a message into the group text that only the selected user will see send file initiates a file transfer to the selected user add pal adds the selected user to your 'pal list' ignore in room ignores this user in the chat room - their nickname will turn gray in the participant list - you will not hear them if they speak on the microphone - alert admin of misconduct Alerts palhelpers that a user is causing trouble. When you make this selection you will get a popup window asking you for a description of what the user is doing wrong. This feature should be reserved for the worst users that need attention from a Paltalk palhelper or co-admin. Please enter a valid reason for your request for help.
